Club of the Year 2015

We Did It!

Thanks so much to everyone who voted!

We’re absolutely thrilled to have been named as Dundee’s Club of the Year for the second year running.

Once again we’ve fought off competition from clubs twice our size, all with excellent sporting pedigree and long traditions in the city.

We’re only three years old but already we’re punching well above our weight on the honours front; a real tribute to the hard work our volunteers and players put in every week.

Here’s a video from the Dundee Sports Awards Ceremony where club chairperson Elizabeth Ferris gets the microphone and the club gets the shiny trophy!

Jenny Wood Allen Award Goes to Another Dragon!

The 2015 Dundee City Disability Sport Jenny Wood Allen Award has been won by Dundee Dragon Jay Anderson.

Jay has had a remarkable year playing Wheelchair Basketball for Angels of the North and representing Scotland in Wheelchair Rugby League at the European Championships.

We’re delighted that the award has stayed in the “Dragons Family” for another year as the 2014 winner was DDWSC Chairperson, Elizabeth Ferris.

Here is Jay’s acceptance speech at the awards ceremony in the city’s Caird Hall.

Congratulations Jay!

Dragons Are Roaring All Over Tayside!

It’s a big few weeks coming up for the club, with representation in every one of the regional sports awards ceremonies!
As well as the club being shortlisted for Club of the Year at this week’s Dundee Sports Awards, the following players are finalists for awards in their locality:

Jay Anderson: Dundee City Disability Sport Jenny Wood Allen Award.

Ben Leitch: Perth and Kinross Disability Sports Personality of the Year.

Gemma Lumsdaine: Angus Disability Sports Personality of the Year.

Murran MacKay: Angus Disability Sports Personality of the Year.

Michael Mellon: Dunfermline and West Fife Disability Sports Personality of the Year.

Basketball Coach Jen Scally has also been shortlisted as Community Coach of the Year at the Dundee Sports Awards.

The long list of finalists is testament to the hard work and dedication that our players put into their sporting lives, some travelling for up to an hour to get to DragonsHQ for training, with national squad sessions and competition on top of that.
Our volunteers and coaches work hard to make sure players are the best they can be and the fruit of those labours are evident above!

Of course, every one of them are winners in our eyes, we’ll let you know when the silverware starts to flood in!
