Gemma’s Double Call Up!

Another Dragon has been called up to the elite Scotland WRL Squad!

Gemma Lumsdaine got the news this week that in addition to representing Scotland U19s at the Lord’s Taverner’s Junior Championships in Wheelchair Basketball, she will also be representing Scotland at the Sainsbury’s 2014 School Games – and now there’s the small matter of a Wheelchair Rugby League Four Nations to compete in as well!

We’re over the moon for Gemma here at DragonsHQ, If ever there was proof that hard work on the training court really does reap big rewards! This means we have 5 club players actively representing Scotland at international level, a real honour for the club.

Go Get em Gems!

Match Report: Grampian Flyers Open Day.

The Dragons travelled to Aberdeen on Saturday 7th of June to take part in the Scottish WBB Development league. A spirited bunch made up of Dragon regulars plus family members, Abertay staff and students and Josh from Lothian Phoenix took on Grampian Flyers and Lothian Phoenix.

“Magic hands McKeen” with a flurry of 3 pointers helped secure a decisive win in the first game over Grampian Flyers.  Playing Lothian Phoenix was always going to be challenging but the Dragons fought hard and held their own managing to keep the scores very close throughout the two halves. By the second round of games the Dragons had improved both in their offensive and defensive  play but despite their best efforts failed to win a game.

Everyone who participated had a great day and learned loads – the Dragons travelled back to Dundee exhausted but well chuffed with their performance.
