The Lord’s Taverners National Junior Championships 2015

A fundamental part of The Lord’s Taverners Junior Programme, where many of the 2012 ParalympicsGB Wheelchair Basketball Teams honed their talent and skills, The Lord’s Taverners National Junior Championships is a prestigious annual tournament for regional U15 and U19 teams from all across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

The 2015 Championships took place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August at the University of Worcester Arena and Dundee Dragons were well represented; with DDWSC Basketball Coach Jen Scally leading the Scotland U15 squad which included two of our young players, Kayleigh and Murran MacKay.

In the U19s squad there was yet more DDWSC representation with Gemma Lumsdaine on the court, and Club Secretary Sally Lumsdaine managing their team.

It was a tough weekend for Scotland with the U19s coming in 10th and the U15s finishing in 8th place, but by all accounts the teams worked well together and played their hearts out.

We’re always proud of our Dragons whether they be players or volunteers, and this weekend is no different; well done guys and safe travels home!
